Cathedral decision delayed

Anglican church leaders have delayed their decision on what will happen to the earthquake-damaged ChristChurch Cathedral.

In April, the church put forward three proposals: to restore the original structure, rebuild it in a traditional theme, or replace it with a modern design.

The church is still engaged in a court battle with the Great Christchurch Buildings Trust which wants the Cathedral restored.

Anglican Church spokesperson Reverend Jayson Rhodes says the Church Property Trustees met on Thursday to discuss the options.

Mr Rhodes said they opted to delay their decision until the Appeal Court judgement is released. It is not known when that will be.
