Crown offer deadline extended for Port Hills residents

The deadline for homeowners in Christchurch's Port Hills to accept a Crown offer for their properties has been extended until the end of January 2014.

Residents had been expected to decide whether to sell their property to the Crown by the end of August this year.

Meanwhile, an announcement on the zoning review for 130 properties in the Port Hills is expected in coming weeks.

All property owners there have been zoned either red or green, but some appealed their zoning more than seven months ago.

Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee said he knows the review has taken a long time but it is based on risks to people's lives.

Mr Brownlee said when the review is finished, all property owners affected by the changes would be contacted individually.
