Federated Farmers says the rural community is extending a helping hand to those in need.
Chief executive Conor English says the organisation has been coordinating assistance for a handful of farmers who suffered property damage.
Fortunately, he says, the number of farmers offering assistance far exceeded those who needed help.
Federated Farmers has also offered Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker assistance in clean-up and recovery operations.
Mr English says farmers stand ready to help, for example, by bringing in tractors to help clear rubble, if needed.
