No mail on Saturday to give staff a break

Mail deliveries in some areas of Canterbury will be cancelled on Saturday to give staff affected by the earthquake a break, says New Zealand Post.

It says general mail, CourierPost, PO Box and rural deliveries will be suspended in Christchurch and outlying areas coping with the effects of the quake.

New Zealand Post says staff in those areas who would normally work six days in a row will take a well-deserved breather.

PostShops and PostCentres will open as usual on Saturday, apart from those closed because of safety concerns.
