Cathedral service to be held outdoors

Christchurch Cathedral is to hold this Sunday's service outdoors, in Cathedral Square.

Engineers have inspected the stonework of the historic building and have found the cathedral in very good condition.

But with continuing aftershocks there is still some risk of falling debris, which poses a safety risk.

The Dean, Peter Beck, says the full cathedral choir will be in the square on Sunday morning, and people of all religious denominations are invited to attend.
