Warning to keep boiling water in Waimakariri District

10:20 pm on 16 September 2010

The Waimakariri District Council is repeating warnings to boil water in some areas after the bacteria E-coli was found in a second drinking water sample.

The warning applies to Kaiapoi, Pines Beach and Kairaki - areas badly affected by the Canterbury earthquake on 4 September.

The council says all water used for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth must be boiled. E.coli can cause stomach upsets.
