Tour buses not welcome in quake-hit suburb

A resident in one of the Christchurch suburbs worst hit by the earthquake says she wants the tour bus operators who have been seen taking tourists on tours of Avonside to be named.

Angela Wasley says two unmarked tour buses were spotted by residents at the weekend driving around the suburb.

Ms Wasley says the council has a ban on public transport through much of Avonside so the buses, carrying tourists who were taking photos, were noticeable.

She says the visits are not welcome because of the further damage the buses could do to the roads and the sewerage system.
