Canterbury was jolted by a 4.5 magnitude aftershock on Wednesday morning.
The tremor occurred at 9:17 am, 30km west of Diamond Harbour and a depth of 15km.
It was the largest since a 5.0 quake on Tuesday caused more damage in the area.
