Large aftershock in Canterbury

The Canterbury region has been hit a 4.6-magnitude aftershock on Sunday morning, the largest of several tremors during the morning.

The quake, at 2:52am, was centred 20km north-west of Oxford at a depth of 9km.

Several more aftershocks followed, the largest at 3.6 and 3.1, and all were shallow quakes.
