Thousands of high school students will spend the weekend cramming for their NCEA exams next week, but some Canterbury students may be finding the task more daunting.

The head of the science department at Riccarton High School, Sharyn Varcoe, says the impact has lasted much longer.
Students have found it hard to concentrate, says says, and the lost week has made it tough to cover all the course material thoroughly.
Ms Varcoe says the stress caused by continuing aftershocks has added to the pressure of exam preparation.
