Another quake in Canterbury

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake has occurred in Canterbury.

GNS Science says it was about 10km south-west of Christchurch, at 2.12am on Friday, at a depth of 7km.

Nine aftershocks were recorded in Christchurch on Thursday, with many being shallow and centred near the city centre.

The biggest was magnitude 5.1. It occurred at 6.03am, at a depth of 10km.
