Quake-damaged major street now one lane

A major one-way street in Christchurch has been reduced to a single lane due to earthquake damage.

Cordons have been increased around the Nurse Maude building on Madras Street as engineers have safety concerns about the structure.

Cordons were already in place around the building following the 7.1-magnitude quake on 4 September, but the Christchurch City Council has now pushed these barriers further into the road.

They will remain in place while the council speaks with the building owner.
