Auckland's Mayor Len Brown says the city's thoughts and prayers are with Christchurch following Tuesday's earthquake.
Mr Brown says the Auckland Council will do everything it can to help as the people of Christchurch pick up the pieces.
The mayor says he will discuss a number of options with council officers, including the provision of road and water engineering support, civil defence and specialists in building consents.
