No-fly zone over central Christchurch extended

2:32 am on 25 February 2011

The no-fly zone over central Christchurch has been extended several blocks outwards from the four main avenues.

The Civil Aviation Authority says the extension is to allow search and rescue teams to use listening equipment effectively in their search for survivors.

The new no fly zone is now bounded by Edgeware Road, Linwood Avenue, Ensors Road, Brougham Street, Park Terrace and Papanui Road.

The ban on use of airspace will continue until further notice.
