Army and Navy crews worked through the night to unload quake relief supplies from HMNZS Canterbury after it docked at Lyttelton on Monday.

The supplies brought from Wellington include water, food, medical supplies and vehicles.

The unloading was completed at about 2am on Tuesday and the ship's crew are now waiting to see if they need to do another return trip or stay in the port to assist in other earthquake-related efforts.
