Ballantynes may not qualify for govt support

Christchurch department store Ballantynes is determined to stay operating in the city centre, but is probably not eligible for the Government's economic support package.

Managing director Mary Devine says the company has not gone into the details yet, but it appears that because it is insured it will not be eligible for financial aid.

Ms Devine says many of the company's 400 employees want to return to work in the building, but others may not feel able to do so.
