Quake-stricken Canterbury firms are being offered a temporary base and professional advice to help them get back to business.

A Business Recovery Centre has been set up at Training and Beyond's Opawa Road premises.

Director Melanie Morris says the centre aims to be a hub for businesses to meet with other professionals to figure out whether, and how, they can keep running.

Miss Morris says the building has been given the all-clear from authorities and has been filled with with donated office furniture, computers, software and stationery to help businesses get back on their feet.

The centre can accommodate 40 people, and from next week it will run workshops offering legal, accounting and IT advice.

Miss Morris says she is humbled by the support being offered.

Anyone wanting to get in touch with the centre can visit Business Recovery Centre or phone 0800 BEYOND, or 0800 239 663.
