Rubbish collection resumes across Christchurch on Monday morning, but the City Council warns there could be delays with pick-ups.
Until Friday, green bins which contain organic waste will be collected, along with red rubbish bins, even if it is not a normal collection day.
Usual collections of the yellow recycling bin will resume this week for the relevant households.
Residents have also been asked to put out bins from vacant households and return them to the right house once they have been emptied.
The council says carpets, furniture and demolition waste such as bricks will not be picked up and must be disposed of at local transfer stations.
