Christchurch residents who do not have running water will be able to have free hot showers at the country's largest mobile shower unit from Monday.
The unit will be located at the corner of Cresswell Avenue and New Brighton Road, near Burwood Park from 8am.
The unit has been transported from Auckland and will be moved to a different location each day .
Neil Cumming of the unit's supplier Kohler, says donated supplies of shampoo and soaps will be available, but residents must bring their own towels.
He says while a time limit is not being imposed, he envisages people would shower for about five minutes.
