The last of the welfare centres set up in Christchurch after the 22 February earthquake has closed.

Civil Defence says the people who had been staying at the Pioneer Stadium welfare centre have been moved to other accommodation.

A recovery assistance centre will remain open at the stadium where people can get information and help from the Red Cross, Work and Income, Housing New Zealand and Christchurch City Council.

Two new recovery assistance centres have opened - at the Old Boys' Collegians cricket pavilion in Hagley Park and the Mt Pleasant Yacht Club on Main Road in Redcliffs.
