Police employee killed in quake named

The name of a police employee killed in the Christchurch earthquake has been released.

Pamela Brien had been working with the police for 17 years.

Ms Brien was attending a work-related appointment at the Canterbury Television Building when the quake struck on 22 February and the building collapsed.

Police Commissioner Howard Broad said on Tuesday it is with great sadness that he is advising the public of her death.

Mr Broad says Ms Brien moved to Christchurch in 2001 where she worked as an analyst, a receptionist at the Papanui Station and most recently in the child protection team.

Mr Broad said she held a variety of roles in areas he considers to be the hard parts of policing and did those jobs well.
