Business owners again protest

A small group of business owners has again protested outside the Civil Defence headquarters in Christchurch, expressing frustration at not being able to access their buildings.

One of them, Nicky Arts, owns a High St printing business that was undergoing earthquake-strengthening when the 22 February quake struck.

"We've spent five weeks trying to get into our building," Ms Arts says. "We know the building's all right, we know our neighbours have some issues, but let us get in and finish our earthquake-strengthening.

"Then it'll be one of the few remaining heritage buildings left in the city that's actually earthquake-strengthened to 100%."

Ms Arts says she just wants to to secure the property and retrieve invoicing information.

She says protests will continue until all business owners are able to access their buildings.
