Christchurch Casino says 27 employees have indicated they would like to relocate to other parts of the country.

The casino has been closed since February's earthquake, but more than 500 staff have remained on full pay.

They were told on Saturday that this cannot continue and were given until Tuesday to decide whether to take redundancy, or go on leave without pay until the business is able to reopen.

Chief exeutive Brett Anderson says the casino is keen to help staff shift to other jobs around the country where possible - but is not able to assist with their relocation costs.

He says 27 people have indicated they are keen to relocate and some have already moved to Queenstown and Dunedin.
