More than 100 employees from the Christchurch Casino have opted to take redundancy rather than go on leave without pay until it reopens.

Casino employees had until 5pm on Monday to decide which option to take.

Chief executive Brett Anderson, says 108 employees have chosen redundancy, 373 have gone on leave without pay and 35 have not responded.

Mr Anderson says he hopes to hear back from engineers on the extent of earthquake damage to the casino by early next week, which will give a better idea of when they can reopen.
