Quake info radio station ransacked

A radio station set up to provide people in Christchurch's earthquake-hit eastern suburbs with information has been burgled.

Classic Gold Radio New Brighton has been broadcasting out of a caravan for the past month and was set up by Chris Diack following the devastating quake on 22 February.

The caravan was ransacked early on Thursday morning and some equipment was taken.

Mr Diack, of Invercargill, says he is shocked the caravan was broken into but the station is back on air.

The station was granted a three-month licence by the Government.

Mr Diack says he needs to return home and is looking for a community group to take over the free service.
