Lawyers raising money for law services

The New Zealand Law Foundation is setting up a fund to get legal services in Christchurch running again.

Chair Warwick Deuchrass says the foundation will collect donations for the LawCan fund from law firms throughout the country.

It will then distribute the money to residents in need of legal help.

Mr Deuchrass says many residents will need to spend substantial amounts of money on lawyers in the aftermath of the 22 February earthquake.

He says some of the money will also go to law firms which were particularly affected by the quake.
