Police in Christchurch say they have retrieved all the vehicles they can from the severely damaged central city after February's earthquake.

They have taken about 5500 vehicles to Hagley Park for collection by owners.

About 30 that have not been picked up have been moved to Christchurch City Council's service centre in Sockburn for collection.

Police say there are about 20 vehicles in the central city that are inaccessible or damaged and can not be retrieved.
