Members of a union representing hundreds of workers in Christchurch met on Wednesday discuss how they can have a say in rebuilding the earthquake damaged city.

About 80 delegates from the Engineering, Printing & Manufacturing Union decided to set up a working group that will feed ideas into the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority and Christchurch City Council.

EPMU spokesperson Kelvin Ellis says it is important that workers can tell authorities what issues they are dealing with and are likely to face in the future.

Workers are the ones who will actually rebuild and work in the city and should have a say in how it is going to run, he says.
