Free bus service between schools and sport

A free bus service taking school pupils to and from sports matches is being provided for children displaced from schools in the earthquake-affected eastern suburbs of Christchurch.

Pupils from Shirley Boys' High School and Avonside Girls' High School are currently sharing campuses with schools to the north, because their own school buildings can't be used.

The bus service has been provided by a local mall, the Palms, to carry students between their schools and their sports matches and training sessions at various parks in the eastern suburbs.

Palms marketing manager Anne Newman says providing transport will ease pressure on local parents and help the students maintain some normality in their lives.
