People sick of aftershocks - supermarket owner

9:03 am on 7 June 2011

Rolleston New World supermarket owner Roy Bridgeman says people are fed up with the continuing disruption from aftershocks.

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake centred near Rolleston, occurred at 9.09am on Monday.

Mr Bridgeman says it caused a large mess of liquids and broken glass.

The store was evacuated, but reopened about 1.5 hours later.

But Mr Bridgeman says staff are getting sick of the disruption and having to clear up so often.

The Earthquake Commission is classing the aftershock as a separate event, and it will accept claims for any new or increased damage.
