Inquests into the deaths of people killed in the Christchurch Television Building in an earthquake in February have been delayed indefinitely.
The inquests for the 106 victims began at Riccarton Racecourse but had to be adjourned twice on Monday due to significant aftershocks.
A spokesperson for the coroner's office could not say when a new date will be set. The inquests were due to finish on Wednesday.
Earlier, some relatives of the victims called for the inquest to be delayed, saying they wanted to wait until after the findings of the Royal Commission, which is to examine the reason the building collapsed.
Some family members of the deceased have formed a group and arranged joint legal representation.
Lawyer Marcus Elliot said they want to ensure that such a tragedy does not happen again.
Mr Elliot said they are seeking information about the design and construction of the CTV building and the assessments that it was safe after the 4 September earthquake and subsequent quakes.
The building housed the Canterbury Television station and King's Education language school.
