The Fire Service says all available crews have been attending calls throughout Christchurch suburbs.
Assistant national commander Dan Coward says anyone in a damaged home who feels unsafe should contact them for help on the 111 emergency number.
He says the Fire Service will send a crew to undertake a building safety check.
