Farmy Army calls for volunteers and equipment

The Farmy Army is calling for volunteers and equipment to help with the clean-up from Monday's tremors in Christchurch.

The organisation says it needs as many people as possible to register at the A and P Showgrounds in Curletts Road, Addington, on Saturday morning to help clear silt from liquefaction.

The Farmy Army says liquefaction is just as extensive as after the 22 February earthquake and there have been several calls for help.

It also needs trailers to carry equipment, wheelbarrows and shovels, along with tipping trucks, diggers and loaders with a maximum weight of three tonnes.

Volunteers should be prepared with gumboots and wet weather gear.
