Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Authority has outlined the future of many buildings in the red zone of the city.

The 19-storey Forsyth Barr building will be saved and the owners of the multi storey Victoria Apartments are looking at options to save their building.

But the fates of the highrise Brannigan building and Copthorne Central hang in the balance.

Chancery Lane in Cathedral Square is now largely gone. Work has also begun on demolishing the heritage building which formerly housed the Regent Theatre.
