Council confident stormwater system will cope

Christchurch City Council is confident its damaged stormwater system can cope with the melting snow as the storm slowly moves away from the region.

Mayor Bob Parker says crews have been working hard over the last few days, clearing drains where necessary.

He says that so far, the system appears to be coping well, but in some cases hard piles of ice and snow will be blocking drains and may cause localised flooding.
