A delay in deciding if some orange-zoned Christchurch land is safe to rebuild on is causing frustration for residents.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority has missed one of its deadlines for a decision.
The quake on 22 February caused extensive damage to the city and many homeowners still do not know if they can stay or be forced to move.
The orange zone involves land affected by lateral spread and liquefaction and is made up of pockets of land spreading from Waimakariri in the north to South Shore in the south.
The deadline was announced in a letter to about 9000 homeowners in the orange zone at the end of July and applies to 1500 residents in Southshore and Brooklands.
Southshore resident Helen Quested says it has been a long wait for information on the state of her land.
Ms Quested says she has made repeated calls to the authority and seems to get a different answer every time.
An spokesperson for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says an answer is likely later in August.
The remaining 7500 orange zone residents will have to wait for up to four months for an answer on their land.
