Bars in one of the main social hubs in Christchurch are to join the list of buildings facing demolition.
More than 900 buildings in the central city are scheduled to be pulled down because of earthquake damage.
Antony Gough owns most of the bars along Oxford Terrace, an area known as The Strip.
Mr Gough says he expects all his buildings in the area will have to be demolished.
His insurer has told him two of the buildings have to come down, and he is waiting for a decision on the others.
Mr Gough says the cost of repairs is similar to that of a new building in many cases.
