Additional earthquake bus tours of inner Christchurch are being held to meet demand.

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says almost 13,000 people have taken advantage of the red zone bus trips in the CBD since they began on 5 November.

Chief executive Roger Sutton says the hours of operation have been extended in the weekend to accommodate the ongoing demand.

The bus trips run for the next three weekends. However, twilight week night bus trips end on Friday.

While the bus trips are free, more than $14,000 has been raised from donations.
