The Farmy Army says Canterbury people are still in need, and it is rallying to help those affected by the Christchurch earthquakes for one last time.
Catering coordinator Helen Heddell of Federated Farmers says the army, which has been going since February, is hoping to provide 1000 Christmas hampers for those most in hardship.
She says the army had meat left from their last few drives so members decided to come out of retirement for Christmas.
Mrs Heddell says food has come from across the country and the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust donated money to buy fruit and vegetables.
