Christchurch quake walkway closed

A temporary walkway through the centre of Christchurch devastated by February's earthquake, has attracted about 20,000 people each weekend.

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says the walkway losed on Sunday, with the last people being allowed in at 7pm.

The walkway has to close because of demolition work that is due to get underway.

The authority says the Red Zone bus tour, which finished last weekend, took 28,000 passengers through the city.
