Food floods in to Christchurch City Mission

Christchurch City Mission has been flooded with donations of food since a new series of strong earthquakes shook the region on Friday.

Michael Gorman says the mission's doors were closed after the first of the tremors hit at 1.58pm but on Saturday it received a huge amount of food for its Christmas Day lunch.

Mr Gorman says he has no idea how many people will turn up for Sunday's Christmas lunch but he hopes people will not be afraid to come.

It will be held in a marquee at Christchurch East School.
