Canterbury residents have until the end of Monday to lodge a claim for any damages caused by the earthquake on 9 October.
The Earthquake Commission says 5475 claims have been lodged so far.
The quake was magnitude 5.5. It occurred at 8.43pm and was centred 10km north-east of Diamond Harbour.
The EQC says that as of Monday, it had received about 8800 claims arising from the quakes on 23 December and 2 January.
The deadline for claims arising from the earthquakes on 23 December is 23 March.
