Christchurch council offices re-open

8:56 am on 10 January 2012

Staff and local people are being allowed to return to the Christchurch civic offices.

Aftershocks on 2 January forced the closure of the Christchurch City Council offices until structural engineers could inspect them.

Minor repairs have been carried out to the building after a series of quakes over the holiday period.

A council spokesperson said all staff and members of the public would be able to return to the Hereford Street building from Tuesday morning.
