Hotel demolition still on track

Demolition work on one of the tallest buildings in Christchurch is still expected to be finished on schedule despite delays due to the December earthquake.

The Grand Chancellor Hotel suffered major damage in the earthquake on 22 February.

Demolition of the building was expected to be completed by mid April.

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says the building had to be rechecked after the earthquake on 23 December.

Engineer Carl Devereux says that put back work by about a week, but they are looking at catching up to meet the schedule.
