Thousands of people have turned up to the final summer gala in the red-zoned of Brooklands in Christchurch.
About 500 properties in the suburb have to be abandoned because of earthquake damage.
A spokesperson for the Brooklands Residents Association said the free event had been running for 20 years and residents were on Saturday making the most of their last gala together.
