A woman whose brother died when the bar they both worked in collapsed in the February earthquake says she was worried about the safety of the building from the day she started working there.
Amy Cooney has been giving evidence to the Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commission which is continuing to look at some of the smaller buildings that collapsed during the earthquake on 22 February.
On Thursday, the commission concentrated on the of the Iconic Bar in central Christchurch.
Ms Cooney and her brother Jaime Gilbert attempted to flee the building as the earthquake struck and were buried under rubble.
She held her brother's hand as they waited to be rescued.
She told the hearing that make-safe work carried out on the building after the September earthquake did not appear to be sufficient and her fears came true when the very walls that had been repaired, collapsed.
