Businesses in Merivale Mall in Christchurch, which has been partially closed after a floor was deemed a quake risk, are still waiting on a timeframe for repairs after meeting with its managers.

Part of the mall was shut on Saturday morning, after engineers found a large part was an earthquake risk.

The owners of the businesses forced to close - 18 shops, two kiosks and the Fresh Choice supermarket - were called to a meeting with the manager of the mall, Tower Investments, on Tuesday morning.

The co-owner of the menswear store Sergios, Kevin Gainsford, says it was confirmed the concrete floor on the first floor of the mall is unsafe but no timeframe for repairs was given.

Mr Gainsford says while the uncertainty remains, he has begun to look for another location for his store.
