Delhi ticket sales slow

Athletes are arriving in big numbers for the Commonwealth Games, but many tickets still remain unsold.

About 2 million tickets were put on sale for the event, but rumours have long circulated in Delhi that the response has been slow because of delays in finalising the sales network.

Tickets in all categories are available for most sports, but places are still on sale even for the opening and closing ceremonies on 3 and 14 October, as well as the finals of various events.

The Games press office says about 1800 athletes and officials are expected to have arrived by Thursday.

Almost 100,000 police officers are deployed in the streets of Delhi.
