Three New Zealand boxers won their opening bouts at the Commonwealth Games.

Lightweight Angus Donaldson, light welterweight Anthony Taylor and middlewight Nathon McEwen beat their African opponents on points.

Donaldson says coaches and management have got the team well prepared, and he's relieved to have performed well in his first fight.

Weigh-in chaos

On Monday, the official weigh-in in ran into chaos on Monday with complaints of innacurate test scales, which the Australian team said meant a string of boxers unnecessarily tried to shed weight to get into the desired category.

It was found that the scales had not been calibrated correctly and were two kilos heavy.
