The New Zealand swim team just missed out on a medal for a second day at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Daniel Bell finished fourth place in the 50m backstroke final at the Dr S.P.M Aquatics Complex on Tuesday night. His time of 25.21 seconds was just 0.06 seconds behind the bronze-medal winner.

On Monday, Southland swimmer Natalie Wiegersma had finished just 0.03 of a second from a bronze medal placing in the 200m individual medley final.

Glenn Snyders swam his best 100m breaststroke of the season and achieved a new Games record - though it only stood for a couple of minutes, before being broken in the second semi-final.

Snyders qualified third fastest for the final.

Aucklander Penelope Marshall was sixth in the 50m butterfly final, while Melissa Ingram qualified 5th fastest for the 100m backstroke.
